College Explorer

Three interactive looks at public IPEDS data on U.S. four-year colleges: where completion happens across the graduation-rate cascade, how selectivity relates to outcomes, and how net price varies by family income.

Graduation-rate cascade

See how completion outcomes are distributed across the seats where students actually enroll.

Selectivity vs. outcomes

Compare admit rates against 6-year graduation rates across sectors, with filters by state, size, and HBCU status.

Net price by income

Look up any college and compare what families actually pay across five income brackets.

Data: IPEDS graduation-rate figures for students who started college in 2021-2023, U.S. Department of Education, with those three years' worth of students pooled together. Figures for a racial or ethnic group are hidden where fewer than 30 students in that group are in the data. Selectivity tiers are calculated by this site from admission rate and test-score midpoints.
